1. About CiteProof

CiteProof is an AI-assisted research platform designed to help researchers, students, and professionals synthesize literature and organize findings from scholarly databases and the open web.

Results must be independently verified: CiteProof uses machine learning models and automated search pipelines that can make mistakes, hallucinate claims, or cite incorrect sources. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy of any generated text, evidence matrices, citations, and summaries before relying on them.

2. User Accounts and Verification

User accounts, credentials, and authentication sessions are securely managed through Supabase Auth. To prevent abuse and protect computational resources, research execution requires a confirmed email address.

You must provide accurate information and maintain the security of your account credentials. You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

3. Acceptable Use and Fair Use

You agree to use CiteProof only for lawful academic, educational, or professional research purposes. You must not:

• Attempt to bypass, manipulate, or exceed plan quotas, concurrency limits, or hourly rate limits.
• Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the service without written authorization.
• Submit illegal, harassing, or malicious content, or use the service to generate unauthorized automated spam.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the servers and network infrastructure.

4. Plans, Quotas, and Provisional Terms

All subscription plans, feature tiers, run quotas, hourly limits, and pricing are provisional and subject to change as the platform evolves. No plan guarantees unlimited computation: plans without a hard monthly cap are governed by fair use review thresholds.

Research run history is retained for the duration specified in your active plan (history_days). After this retention window, past runs and reports may be permanently pruned from the database.

5. Billing, Subscriptions, and Cancellation

Paid subscriptions and checkout sessions are processed exclusively through Stripe. CiteProof does not collect, process, or store credit or debit card numbers.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time via your account settings. Subscriptions cancel at the end of the current paid billing period; you retain access to plan features until that date. No partial refunds are issued for mid-cycle cancellations unless required by law.

Taxes: GST and any other applicable statutory taxes are to be confirmed upon checkout activation.

6. Third-Party Services and Data Flow

To fulfill your research requests, query text and relevant retrieved passages are transmitted to external service providers, including language model APIs and public academic search corpora (such as OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, and arXiv). Use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.
